"Reasons You're Not Coming To Dance Class..." by Alexandra Graham (and my 2 cents worth)

This post is a continuation of yesterday's post Preparing For A Show - part 4.
We've heard all sorts of excuses for not coming to class, some of them valid reasons and others are just bad excuses for not wanting to come to class. Alexandra Graham wrote Reasons You're Not Coming To Dance Class And Why They're Crap and I've heard all of the excuses she addresses in her blog post.
I would like to add one to her list: I forgot. This infuriates me more than the other excuses. Class times are the same throughout the year in my studio (except this year we had to swap 2 classes, but that's not the usual M.O. for us) and in my life (and I assume in most others lives) I have a weekly routine. Every day I know what is happening in my kids' day and my day because it happens every week.
Most people have cell phones with a calendar. At the beginning of the year I put all my class times into my phone and select the "repeat until" option so that the entire dance year in filled into my calendar. If there are changes ... I change it on my phone. There is also an option to remind you before. I get a reminder 30 mins before class. This is sufficient time for me to get dressed and get to the studio. However, the reminder that comes on my phone usually is pointless because ... it's part of my weekly routine.
Like Alexandra says in her blog post, I too was taught that if you make a commitment to something, you do it.
So check your excuses for not coming to class. Are you not coming because you don't enjoy yourself anymore and are looking for any reason to not come? Be honest with yourself and your teacher.
