Shahrzad is an American belly dancer and pilates instructor, who began dancing at the tender age of eleven. Her repertoire includes Modern Egyptian, and various regional and folkloric styles from North Africa, India and the Middle East.
I like the choreography, and her execution of shimmies and isolations. However, I am not fond of her costume at all. The fake garters adds a burlesque look, I've never been a fan of those "thigh gap" skirts (too busy watching for the crotch shot to concentrate on the beautiful dancing), and her bra covers very little.
I really appreciate the beauty of her work. She makes it look so effortless and the little subtleties in her movements add a grace that is sometimes lacking is drum solos.
