Soma Fusion Bellydance Company is celebrating 10 years of teaching and performing. The first Tribal Fusion and American Tribal Style studio in South Africa, Soma offers the highest quality bellydance training and is committed to the growth and development of each student’s unique creative voice through the vehicle of belly dance.
It is Soma's belief that dance is a universal language and cannot be exclusionary and they therefore welcome all levels of experience, all fitness levels, all body shapes and all ages (and genders) to join this community of women who celebrate their individuality and creativity through dance.
Their 10 Year Anniversary show will showcase students, performance troupe member and teachers all performing a variety of dances, including drum solo's and pot balancing acts, a solo by the gorgeus Jordan Williams and Soma founder, Marissa. There will also be some guest performances by 2 other dance schools. Al-Masrah Yoga and Bellydance Academy with feature 3 solo's, by Beverli and 2 of her students. Mandy and Simone of Hipnotize, always a dazzling treat, will be showcasing two group pieces by students.
The show is 90 minutes with a short interval where guests can purchase drinks and snacks and browse the tribal fusion jewellery on sale in the foyer. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts promptly at 8pm.
There is a fundraising raffle taking place as part of the event, with some great prizes up for grabs. All profits from this raffle will go towards funding International Bellydance workshops for 2 of Soma's dancers. Tickets are R50 and winners will be announced at the show.
